Grunge French Provincial Serving Table Makeover

This furniture makeover was definitely a "trust the process" one, where I found myself wanting to try a new painting technique and yet needed to overcome a barrier I was putting on myself.

Do you as an artist, whether it be aspiring or well seasoned, ever find yourself struggling to take the plunge and try something new? Or perhaps you have tried it but didn't see it through to the end? For me, this piece was all about pushing forward, forsaking fear, and just letting the art flow. And here I stand, proud to show you what I created as well as how I got there!

Meet my refinished grunge French Provincial serving table! She's classy with a little bit of sassy as her floral and grunge aesthetics combine. πŸ’₯

I started with a basic French Provincial server I picked up from on one of my many excursions through the state of Arizona.

I brought this beauty home and began the prep process. Once the cleaning, sanding, light patching, and the top was stained (not shown), I was able to start working on the fun part, which was adorning the piece with WoodUbend Mouldings.

Once my mouldings were secure I could begin painting. I should note I prepped the piece with two coats of Dixie Belle's Boss chalk mineral paint in gray, followed by two coats of Caviar as a base. From there I was able to begin painting the backdrop using the following Dixie Belle colors:

🎨 Cobalt Blue

🎨 Amethyst

🎨 Kudzu

🎨 Lemonade

🎨 Blueberry

Other products used:

🎨 Coffee Bean (for shadowing)

🎨 Bronze Gilding Wax

🎨 Titebond Wood Glue

I couldn't be more pleased with how this piece turned out. It is one of those pieces that needs to be seen in person, as pictures just don't do it justice! Here are a few more images of the piece completed.

I love how it so eloquently marries a grunge and dainty floral aesthetic!
